She moved to San Diego from Boston and has a great love for both coasts. Hailey is passionate about environmental sustainability and learning how to better care for our earth.

Alejandra Robles

Volunteer Garden Coordinator, Mesa Nueva

Alejandra is a PhD student in the Shu Chien-Gene Lay Department of  Bioengineering working on cardiac mechanics in congenital heart disease patients. She is a southern California native and enjoys the infinitely long growing season near the coast. You can find her in the garden, trying to figure out what’s growing or sweeping away. 

Nallely Guillen

Favorite San Diego Experience: Going on walks along the harbor.

Nallely obtained her bachelors degree in Marketing from Colorado State. She has over 13 years of experience in operations and property management. Prior to joining UC San Diego, she was the Operations Manager at a property management company in San Diego. She is excited to join UC San Diego and contribute to the success of all those she encounters.

I am currently a fifth-year PhD student in Biomedical Sciences, with a deep passion for gardening—something I inherited from my grandmother. She was dedicated to living off the land, and her enthusiasm for gardening inspired me. I’m excited to share my knowledge and connect with fellow gardeners, while continuing to learn from others in the community.

I’m a 6th year PhD candidate who picked up gardening as a pandemic hobby and never looked back. Gardening is a fabulous way to get outside and away from screens, it teaches the values of patience and care, AND you get tasty veggies at the end. Carly Steinborn

Favorite San Diego Experience: Going to the many museums throughout the county

Carly graduated from New York University (NYU) with a B.A. in Art History, attended graduate school at Rutgers University, and most recently was living in Rome for several years.  Since returning to her beloved hometown of San Diego, she has gained experience in higher education administration, property management, student advising, and academic consulting.  Happy to be back around the energy of a university setting, Carly is excited to be part of the HDH team.  She looks forward to making campus housing an enjoyable and memorable experience for all members of the UC San Diego population.
