Become a Volunteer Garden Coordinator

The VGC works as a liaison between the Residential Services office and the garden community students. The VGC’s responsibilities include planning meetings, events, performing monthly inspections, and submitting maintenance work orders for the Garden.

VGC Responsibilities:
  • Inspect the garden regularly to ensure residents comply with garden rules.
  • Encourage use, fun, and safety through programming events such as educational workshops and community gatherings.
  • Coordinate collective effort to weed/maintain garden area/pathways between plots once per quarter (or as needed).
  • Attend a monthly meeting with each community Resident Relations Coordinator and fellow VGCs.
  • Communicate with gardeners via Slack and as they feel most comfortable doing so.
  • This is not a paid position, and the position currently has a two-year term limit with the possibility of renewal.
Preferred:
  • 4-6 hours per month
  • Good communication skills
  • Approachable
  • Responds to emails in a timely manner
  • Some knowledge of gardening/planting
